Rrrrg... I keep receiving Manufacturer's Recall notices regarding various pieces of Adric's autonatomy  -- so far, it's been the steering column, gas pedal,  gas gauge, and something else that evades my memory at the moment -- makes me wonder if anything has a NON-defective potential  on this particular model ---  but here's the kicker!  Every letter includes a paragraph about how the repair parts are NOT AVAILABLE at this time...and  I will be notified by my dealership when they are, in order to schedule repairs..... WTF,  Chevrolet-Whatever CorporateConglomerate???  The gas gauge thing is more annoying than anything -- I figured that last winter's extreme cold froze the sensor, and that's why it was doing that annoying 'drop to empty even though I just filled the tank'  thing, but the rest are potentially hazardous -- I guess they're covering their butts, legally speaking.... but c'mon --- tell me my car has defects, and then in the next breath say, 'sorry, we don't have parts to fix it?' ?!?!

Beldandy is on her fourth week of 'twice a day anit-fungal spray and twice a week bath'  ring-worm treatment -- the Vet looked her over last week and said she saw improvement, and keep it up for another couple of weeks.... poor Bel cries and moans and groans, and Jethro... well, we gave him a preemptive bath two weeks ago, and I think we figuratively 'broke' Mr. Happy Tail --- Jethro's tail is more down than up these days.... used to be, all we had to do is LOOK at Jethro, and the Tail would start wagging.... *sob*  ... He hates us......

Last week I went to the eye doctor and had a 'diabetic' eye exam like my doctor  and the insurance company recommended.... Eye doctor said that while the Diabetes hadn't affected my eyes, it looked like the High Blood Pressure had a bit-- How can they tell, I wonder? different types of damage? The diabetes we'd been kind of watching for, since it runs in the family  but the HBP blind-sided me when it was diagnosed ten - twelve years ago .... I'd gone to the walk-in clinic for something minor (I don't even remember what - sinus infection, maybe?) and the next thing I know I'm getting IV's and drugs and doctors saying my BP is through the roof and I have to stabilize before they can let me go home and who is my family doctor --- um, don't have one, that's why I'm at the walk-in?  But I remembered the doctor who'd lanced a nasty cyst on my side the winter before because I liked his attitude, and he's been my doctor ever since (wonder if he remembers?) -- ANYWHOO --  Today I went back and ordered new glasses - bifocals - not as pricy as I'd expected.  And when I had my 6-month check up, the doctor gave me a manufacturers' coupon for one of the more expensive diabetes prescriptions....

Still haven't made a decision re: TARDIS-Con vs DAICHO-Con.

Want a nap.

Well, next week is the Procedure. I get put to sleep and have my left shoulder manipulated while all the muscles are limp as over-cooked ramen, and supposedly that will make the Physical Therapy progress better and faster....

Here's something for my dragonwrangler, et al:

YGO/Torchwood: Five years Later )

Gahhhhh, I wish it would rain and get it over with!!!! The humidity is stifling, and it keeps clouding up in afternoons and evenings, but nothing happens!

I MAY go see "Iron Man" at the cheap cinema this weekend. The 3-D 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' looks interesting, as well....
I am conflicted on "The Dark Knight"

Allo.... Yesterday was a very looooonnnng day.

Got over to the hospital around quarter 'til seven; spoke briefly to Kent before they wheeled him away, told me I loved him and that he'd better come through this or I'd do something violent; his reply: 'with whips, chains and handcuffs?' made the anesthesiologist snork. We joked a little about how we could smuggle Bel into the hospital afterwards for a visit (sedate Chow, drape around neck, tell everyone that she was one of those fancy fur collars)... and then they wheeled him away. The OR nurse said not to worry, that Dr. Collins was very fast, he'd be back in no time and I said I didn't care about FAST, I cared more about GOOD! She assured me that Dr. C was VERY good and I went out to the waiting room. And waited. And waited.

There has to be a special heaven for friends and former bosses: I know at least two people for sure are going there -- Pastor Mary and Elder Jim. Mary came over to the ER Friday night around 10:30pm and stayed and talked with us while the doctor's tried to decide if they were going to ship Kent up to West for surgery or not ('it's definitely cracked' 'but he's been WALKING on it') -- since I hadn't seen Mary since our mutual birthday lunch, we brought her up to date (Kent's dad getting remarried, us getting the house, etc.) until the Ambulance Guy & Gal came and said they were taking him up to WEST, no charge -- probably the only thing we wouldn't get a bill for! -- because WEST has "the *MAGIC* table" (some kind of special x-ray/imaging unit) that Riverside doesn't.... so MAry and I hugged in the parking lot and I promised to let her know how things went, and that she was first on the list for the House-warming party in January....

And apparently the minute she was in her car, Mary called Elder Jim, filled him in on the situation AS A FRIEND, NOT AS A PASTOR because she knew that we used to be neighbors and are still friends (and his wife is a Deacon) and asked him if he could call around and find someone to sit with me Saturday morning during the surgery.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting to see Jim walk into the waiting room yesterday morning!
"Jim! what are you doing here?" my first thought was that Helen (his wife) was sick or hurt.
"I'm here for you, darlin'" -- and the Brokies reading this will understand why I started tearing up immediately -- and Jim stayed with me and we talked (I babbled!) about our dogs --his retriever Becky used to chase bears when they lived near the forest preserve in Wisconsin; he already knew most of Orion's escapades because he and his first wife were our neighbors during that time, but he patiently listened while I babbled; goings on at the church, etc.

The surgery itself didn't take that long, but there was a delay getting Kent in (lots of business for the surgeons yesterday due to that storm Thursday!) and finally the Nurse called and said Kent was back in his room, and Jim hugged me and said they'd praying for Kent in church Sunday, and to let him and the others know if we needed anything, especially help with the moving. And like I said, there's got to be a special place in heaven for friends like Mary and Jim!!!!!

Anyway, surgery went well, I spent an hour or two with Kent right after surgery, made some phone calls to let people (family, bosses, friends, etc.) know what was happening then came home to reassure the kid and dog, did laundry and dishes, took a two hour nap; about 3:30 p.m. Cassandra and I went out Farm & Fleet to get more ICE MELT, some new sweats for Kent since I'd decided the old ones were past redemption, did a little impulse buying for the kid (new L-sleeve holiday T) and new slippers for Kent, went up to the hospital to visit and chat (Kent was definitely more coherent!), left clothes in his cubicle (psychological security) and Cassie gave him the Totoro plushie she'd brought from home "'cause we couldn't get Bel to hold still long enough for you to cuddle" -- My kid is the best....

Kent had his first PT session while the kid and I went to supper (we also picked up some other stuff, de-iced the house porch, swept the steps, brought in the mail, gassed up the car, bought chocolate -for Kent- and I dropped Cassie back off home before going back to hospital!) ; and there's a strong possibility that he will be coming home Monday (tomorrow) because the PT guy was impressed with how well Kent did so soon after surgery. Kent ordered me to go home around 10:00pm because even HE could see that I was dragging.... so I came home, did another load of laundry (good thing, too, because the pipes are frozen again this morning! Shiii---er, shoot! NOW what do I do? Kent's in the hospital! Intellectually I know what to do, I've just never actually done it before! ARGH!)

Cassie's still asleep, but I think I'll head back over to the hospital soon. I just wanted to get on here this morning and thank YOU all for your prayers and support and friendship -- special place for you guys, if not in Heaven, then in MY HEART.

Much love,

Mary

Just very quick: got back just now from hospital; Hubby in surprisingly little pain (radiologist called him 'a tough old bird' LOL). Procedure is actually quite limited-invasive these days, not like when my Mom broke HER hip.... he cracked the bone and the orthopedic surgeon is going to insert three pins to stabilize. Like I said, surgery tomorrow, maybe three days in-hospital to observe for any internal damage since husband was actually walking (albeit with use of cane & crutches) approx. half a day after he fell....

I am feeling much better now about the whole thing, well, calmer, anyway. Thank you all for prayers and moral support.

He's my husband --he's the ONLY husband I've got, and the only one I want. I almost lost him a few years ago due to mutual stupidity, and I DO NOT want to lose him now.

going to bed now. 7;30 a.m. comes early this time of year.

much love to all!
