Well, having been thwarted in our plans to spend money at Steelheart by the ubiquitous 'Holiday Hours' policy last weekend, we instead expanded our Prairie/Butterfly Garden with Swamp Milkweed, Joe Pye Weed, Flox, Red Valerian, Bee Balm, and two other perennials that I can't recall the names of but were purchased because they were yellow/orange and we wanted a variety of colors.... the irony, of course, being that we spent good money on plants that could have been dug up from a roadside ditch, and that our various farmer ancestors had spent good money trying to eradicate from their fields. Oh, and the odd little gargoyle fountain planter that I'm not certain how to use (since we don't have a fountain --- yet). At least we got most of the plants in the ground before the rain hit, AGAIN.

Watched a CUBS game on TV Saturday night -- They made my Dad proud! Not only did they win 7 - 2, but one of the rookie batters achieved the CUBS first 4th of July Grand Slam home run since 1911!!!! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

Because of all the rain the mosquitos have been fierce, but I cannot recall ever having such large, persistent bite welts before! I realize that part of the problem is that many of my bites are located in areas where my clothing chafes and therefore is a near-constant irritant, but seriously!

Two of our church members passed away over the weekend -- neither was particularly unexpected, both had been in poor health for quite a while. Back-to-back funerals: one yesterday, the other this afternoon.

A preliminary Schedule for Anime-Zing! activities has been posted. I'm STILL not impressed.

Later!

1) Happy Birthday, grieving_plain!!!! Many Happy Returns of the Day!!!!

2) Hang in there, Lucidscreamer.... help is on the way. *Hugs*

3) Osama bin Laden.... First reaction: "They finally got the bastard, YES!!!!!" Second reaction: "They killed him. Oh shit! And now he's a martyr for the miltant Islamic radicals to rally around." Third reaction: "Stop showing all the bloody details, CNN! I'm trying to eat my breakfast!"

4)We've been watching the anime "Spice and Wolf"; one of the main characters is 'Holo the Wise Wolf', a nature spirit who (obviously)incarnates as a wolf/woman.... so now the fur-hooligans have new nicknames. Bel, the elder and more dignified is 'the Wise Chow'; Jethro, younger and more vocal, is 'the Whiny Chow', lol.

The family budget took a nasty hit the last week of April, with TWO emergency visits to the dentist (me and Daughter). Ugh. (waves 'bai' to TARDIScon savings stash - at least there's still time to build it up again).

And that's the news from not_hathor land....for now.

Eh, it's been a week, and I just wanna forget about the broken water main/boil order at the church and the pharmacy screw-up, and the Annual reports and all, because it's been a week, and it's all fixed now.

so, That's all I have to say about that.

New lock came for the back door, I picked up Series Three of "Sarah Jane Adventures, finished watching NewWho Series Three (waves 'bye' to Martha -- "see you around!"), and started Series Four - Donna the Super-Temp!!!!
Ten is really starting to slide into the Abyss; Donna needs to smack him upside the EGO good and hard, and often.....

Could have sworn I had an authorized legit copy of SJA One, but darned if I can find it anywhere. Did you borrow it at Christmas, odyssia?

I just checked the Theatre listings for the new Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary movie -- I've got my pick of theatres, if I so choose. Dunno, I still haven't seen "DawnTreader", and I'm wibbling on 'The Green Hornet' which I've read & Heard about and it doesn't sound quite as camp-awful as I feared -- thing is, I <3 the old TV series and the NOW Comics version from the 1990's, with the female Kato. I don't want to ruin the memories.

And why hasn't ANYONE picked up on the crossover possibilities of N.C.I.S and 'It Takes a Thief' -- surely ITaT isn't THAT obscure???!!! I thought I'd found one over on the Pit, sure sounded like it from the summary... but no..... I guess the 'Daddy DiNozzo as Abusive Monster/Mobster' fanon trope is too deeply entrenched.

This past week I watched S2 Doctor Who --finished the last eps. this morning -- it's official, Rose Tyler is a speshul snowflake who expects two entire universes to cater to her sense of what should be.... *sigh* -- looking forward to S3 and S4 (especially Donna, even though I have to turn on the captions to understand half of what they say).

Over Christmas *odyssia* gave me six knitted hats that she made to donate to the Homeless Teen center (I *finally* remembered to take them over to the church!) -- I need to ask her where she got the yarn, the colors were so pretty! (TARDIS Blue, I swear!) Right now I'm working on hand-warmers for my husband to wear at work; I'd really like to find a simple two-needle pattern with half-fingers, as he does electrical wiring, and my attempt at DPN before Christmas was a bit of a mess. Also scarves -- I found a lovely one-row lace pattern that knits up so fast, but I have to be careful with it; if I mess up a YO-Ktog, I end up with a larger hole and it doesn't look quite as nice.

Read manga: Ghost Hunt #11, which got them out of the jam they were in, but still left the mystery of Naru's brother up in the air, and no hint as to if and/or when #12 is coming out; Natsume's Book of Friends #5, which develops some of the secondary characters a bit (very enjoyable); and re-read the first couple issues of Fruits Basket (we gave step-granddaughter the anime slimpack for Christmas because she'd enjoyed the first couple episodes last time she visited).

Thought about writing, read fanfic (a couple of AU Harry Potters recc'ed by *rhye*, a YuGiOh-HP crossover that looks promising, and some lovely SHERLOCK recc's courtesy of *neadods*); tried to read Bujold's 'Sharing Knife' but got interrupted and haven't gone back to it yet.

I need a new pair of "Around the House" pants -- which is an oxymoron, because by definition AtH pants are anything BUT new! They're old and comfortable and worn and maybe a bit holey, and you wear them around the house (hence the name) when you're just puttering around, maybe straightening up a bit but mostly lounging with a good book, a good DvD, and cup of coffee or tea, and just barely decent enough to wear on a quick trip to the grocery store or a fastfood drive-through.

I had a couple of pairs last year; but now they're either too small, too holey & indecent, or lost somewhere in the bowels of the back bedroom! grrrrrr.....

I WANT to go to the WashingtonDC BBM Slash Bash so badly! I have vacation time coming, but I can't think of a reasonable excuse to give the Husband -- plus, there's still Bell's ligature surgery to get through.

*whimpers*

ETA: I found the cutest 'Lost Sheep' graphic earlier this week whilst compiling the Sunday Worship bulletin! I'm going to try to turn it into a BBM-ish icon.

"We're s'pposed ta watch the sheep, Jack, not turn 'em inta tacos!"

Sorry about the emo, earlier. But while I was checking my fList, I noticed that I had a few new friends on there! I like friends! The more the merrier! But I would like to make certain that you all are aware that this not A Fiction Journal....I put all kinds of things here -- EMO outbursts like the one earlier, natterings about my dog(s) past and and present, my daughter, husband, job, etc., and every so often a post might be Fanfiction, and I have a multitude of fandoms.

*** Just to be Absolutely Clear: I am NOT de-friending ANYONE ***

And I will not be offended if anyone decides they don't want to slog through 'cute dog' anecdotes, or Anime squees, or Brokeback Mountain references. I don't 'friends-lock'.... if I think it's too personal, I don't post it.

I hope you all stay; I just don't want it to be under false pretenses!
