November House cleaning - The Kitchen
Nov. 14th, 2010 11:52 amThis weekend has been busy. Friday night Husband and I started cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and drawers and shelves -- something which has not happened since before Mother-in-Law passed away, apparently. See, when Father-in-Law GAVE us the house three (?) years ago, we took possession Lock Stock & Barrel, so to speak. Which means we moved into a house already chock-full of furniture, dishes, tableware, linens, OWLS (MiL collected them), etc. We have slowly diminished the Owl population and assimilated a percentage of our own possessions into the structure, but a majority still remains stored in the attic, basement, and garage....
It's amazing, some of the things we've discovered this weekend (and we're still going -- taking a break from the 409 fumes). So far we've more-or-less cleared the walk-in pantry/closet (at least to the extent that we can walk into it), tossed a TONNE of ancient and out-of-date herbs and spices (FiL REALLY liked his food SPICY!!!), more Owls , three slow-cooker/crockpots in addition to the two we use regularly -- and god only knows what might be in the Mudroom at this point -- napkins and dishtowels that are currently in the laundry, which will be sorted as to condition and most likely donated to the local Women's Shelter, since we tend to use paper towels as napkins when the dining gets messy....
At lease we haven't found any dead mice or snakes.
Oh, yeah, also had Adric's radiator, engine and transmission winterized yesterday in preparation for Thanksgiving weekend and ChiTARDIScon; next weekend he'll get his tires rotated.
And the local Pizza & Subs deli (not Subway) makes the BEST Reuban Pizza!!!!
