Okay, I know that the equipment in the office actually belongs to the church and not to me, and that any member of the church has a right to use it at any time.....

HOWEVER...

I REALLY DO NOT appreciate coming in on Monday morning to find a paper jam in the SHARP copier because someone just HAD to run off Fund Raiser Tickets without bothering to look around to find the very same Fundraiser tickets I ran off LAST WEEK that have been sitting (along with the promo flyers) in the Mission Chair's basket since WEDNESDAY and in fact are STILL sitting there, untouched!!!!!

And I just know that someone's going to complain that the tickets hadn't been made up, when if they'd just bothered looking, or if the Missions CHAIR was on the ball..... Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Iowa Supreme Court considers gay marriage ban
Posted Online: Dec. 09, 2008, 11:05 pm

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An attorney for a half dozen gay couples challenging Iowa's same-sex marriage ban argued Tuesday before the state supreme court that the law violates his clients' constitutional rights.

'We are suggesting that everybody be able to participate equally in an institution that has existed since the beginning of this state,' said former Iowa Solicitor General Dennis Johnson. 'My clients have exactly the same constitutional rights as everybody else, (but) they choose to marry someone of the same sex.'

Roger J. Kuhle, an assistant Polk County attorney... argued that the function of marriage throughout history has been procreation, and that having a mother and father is the optimal situation for raising a child. Allowing same-sex marriage would, over time, harm the institution of marriage and teach people that it's not necessary, he said.

'I think it's a legitimate fear at this point ... when you have the state encouraging same-sex marriage, it's teaching that marriage is no longer about procreation — that that's not a primary or even a central function and it's not an important function of marriage, that marriage is just the commitment between two people,' Kuhle said.

***************
Seriously???? and I've been thinking that the main purpose of marriage might be, oh, mutual companionship, emotional support, financial security.... stuff like that. After all, doesn't the growing number of unwed mothers and single parent families over the past couple of decades sort of indicate that marriage and procreation AREN'T exactly co-dependent anymore (if they ever were)?
*************************

Johnson argued the state has already recognized that same-sex couples can adopt, serve as foster parents and that sexual orientation has no place in custody decisions.

'This state has already basically adopted a policy that same-sex parents are satisfactory,' he said.

He also noted that the state allows convicted sex offenders and pedophiles to marry 'without even blinking an eye' yet his clients, who are good parents, are denied the access and benefits of marriage.

*************
Oh yeah.... let's let the druggies and the convicted murderers get married and/or procreate willy-nilly, but law-abiding tax-paying citizen who happen to share a gender --- Oh horrors! Think of the children!!!!! Better that they should be abused or neglected in single parent or broken-by-divorce homes than cherished, protected and nurtured by two loving same-gender parents!!!!!

(And in case you can't figure it out, THAT was sarcasm)

****************************************
Lawsuit plaintiffs Dawn and Jen BarbouRoske, of Iowa City, said they want the same recognition given to other married couples.

'We're confident that the court will recognize we are a loving family that needs the loving legal marriage within our family,' Dawn BarbouRoske said. 'That's what it's about is that we love one another — that human right to love and to marry, and to be respected for that.'

God, I hope so!

* sigh *

A couple of years ago I joined a discussion forum dedicated to a fandom I had discovered and was MUY enthusiastic about! I've been fading away from said fandom now for the past few months, and wasn't particularly alarmed last month when a defrag of one of the computers I regularly use resulted in the loss of the 'memory' cookie that automatically inserted my password when logging in to that Forum; because, after all, it was still accessible from the other computer....

Ha ha ha.....

Guess who doesn't REMEMBER the password after two years of letting the memory cookies 'fill in the blank' and who also just discovered that the cookies have been cleared on the OTHER computer....

And guess who just spent almost an hour trying to resurrect her account/change the password, etc..... to no avail?

You all remember how excited I was back in November about Disney FINALLY releasing 'Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow' (aka 'The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh') on DVD? Well, I went to the local Best Buy over lunch on the release date, only to find empty racks with Title and Sales Price attached where it should have been. The floor assistant couldn't tell me when they might get more in, but suggested I check back at the end of the week. Got the same story at the BB across the river.... so for past couple weeks, I've been haunting the Best Buys, the Borders and Barnes and Nobles stores, WAL-Mart -- any place I could think of that might have carried it...

Turns out it was a LIMITED EDITION, and has ALREADY BEEN DISCONTINUED BY DISNEY not even a month later....I can't find it ANYWHERE!!!!!

Bad Language Rant )

12/07/08 - EDITED for embarrassing and childish use of the "F" word.

*sigh* You'd think by now I'd have learned NOT to start daughter on a new medication in the middle of the school week.....

So much for my 'day off'; I might as well go to work.

I've been holding things together for the past six months -- work, the house, family, dog....

I'm in pain and I'm tired of doing EVERYTHING -- packing, unpacking, taking daughter to school, taking daughter to the doctor to try ONE MORE EFFING TIME to find out WHY she gets sick so often, I'm tired of postponing my time off YET AGAIN because other people's concerns are more important than the fact that I'm so burnt out that I'm barely functioning, I'm tired of trying to sell the effing trailer while my husband just sits and bitches about having to pay another month's lot rent --- YES, he broke his hip last December, but why the heck couldn't he pick up the phone and do some of this MONTHS ago????

WHY IS IT MY JOB?????

I'm just so tired of it.
