Hello March!

Husband forgot to take into account the 50% increase in the state vehicle registration fees when making the budget for this month, so we are on Extreme Frugality measures until the 20th.

Ugh.

Well, I won't lack for reading materials, that's for sure. Cleaning the computer room and installing the bookcases (not new, they've been stashed unassembled under one of the living room tables for the past ?? years) has unearthed BOXES of books which we hadn't exactly forgotten we possessed, we just weren't sure where they were ... although I'm pretty certain I used to have all three of the original Tony Hillerman "Lt. Leaphorn" novels and can only account for two of them, and I know that one of the Alisa Craig paperbacks was discarded with severe water damage shortly before the move -- I've been trying to replace it ever since! Trying to sort and shelve is taking longer than I thought it would, because I keep seeing old favorites and wanting to sit down and read...

Still haven't found the Mackinac Island sweatshirt. I thought for sure it would turn up in there.

Beldandy has been doing well with the new anti-arthritis and joint supplements the canine chiropractor recommended. NOT steroids -- I will never knowingly give my Chows steroids, after Chani's bad reaction so many years ago. I sat up all night with her, holding her so she could breathe -- thought we were going to lose her. Our vet at the time didn't think it was the arthritis medication, but I didn't believe it was coincidence that we had just started using it that week. Later, a dog breeder friend (waves at reziac) confirmed that it WAS quite likely a reaction to the steroid component and that I should toss the remainder of the pills -- I already had, of course. ANYWAY, Bel is due for another visit to the chiro next week (already budgeted for, with the Cash Stash) -- I do need to find a cheaper way to get those pills down her throat; pill pockets are pricey, and so is deli lunch meat!

Gave some of the excess yarn to our friend J. -- she doesn't knit or crochet, but one of her friends from church does. Found a couple of half-finished prayer shawl projects, and fortunately also found the instructions and most of the yarns involved. Once I've completed my current 'leaf motif' shawl (about 2/3rds done), I'll get to work on them.

OH! I ALSO found some of the print-outs I'd made long ago of my WIP stories! If I can find the time, I'll start re-typing them into the computer.... and I discovered that when WINDOWS at work updated last time, it somehow put my sound on "MUTE". So that's fixed, too.

*Head desks* As I just mentioned to 'Polly-mio', I've been poking at the bear on and off since NaNoWriMo, back in November. I want to add in some info re: the Kendo Club because it will be important later on, but it's not jelling. And as it stands now, even with adding on the nightmare scene I wrote and posted here years ago, it's a very short chapter....

Arrrggggh! How do I explain concisely why Domino High doesn't have a Kendo Club, per se, but time-shares with at least one other high school (and Mokuba's middle school), since nearly every anime/manga I've seen that involves a school makes it clear that almost every high school/middle school in Japan has a Kendo Club -- even Jindai High in 'Full Metal Panic/Fumoffu', although it's a close call! All I know is that it has to do with the popularity of "Duel Monsters" -- all of the traditional clubs are suffering, btw...

Maybe I should post an 'Odd Bits' story on FFnet, like I see a lot of in the 'Harry Potter' section. But it's such a PAIN to post over there....

Busy Week

Busy busy busy.....

So a quick 'fly-by' Post:

I think I know why I'm stuck on "Paths of Righteousness" --

Emotionally, I'm done with that part of the story, but I'm reluctant to change the POV because that offends my sense of the Dramatic Unities....

I want to jump ahead and write 'Blind Game Again" and "All Souls' Night", but that would leave PoR hanging.

Blehhhh....

Open to suggestions, here!

I sat down this afternoon with a plan:

1)Write 1000 words, watch an episode of Shonen Onmyogji;

2)Write another 1000 words, read KyoKara Maoh manga;

3)Write another 1000 words, cook supper.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:

Spent half an hour watching Master/The Doctor vids on YouTube;

Sliced an apple and made a cup of tea.

Wrote approx. 1000 words, give or take a few.

Looked at the clock, broke off the writing, assembled meatloaf and stuck it in the oven. Set timer for 1 hour 15 minutes.

Wrote almost another 1000 words. Timer went off. Applied barbecue sauce to top of meatloaf and stuck it back in the oven. Scrubbed and prepped sweet potatoes, put them in the microwave. Set green beans to cook on stove top.

Called husband and daughter to dinner at 6:05 pm. An hour and a half later, finally get back to the computer. Review last paragrach written, and head explodes.

Seriously. Migraine. oh joy.

Will go take Imetrex and lie down for a little while.

If she pulled those triggers, two things would happen as surely as night turns to day and vice versa: the recoil from the high powered custom Colts would shatter those delicate wrists, and he would die without ever learning the truth behind this child's, -- barely a woman!-- animosity toward what had at one time been a dearly loved and admired older cousin.

Dearest boy, I will always love you, wherever you are (Daughter, bless her heart, insists that you are in Vegas, with Elvis!)and I treasure the production still that Daughter gave me for Mother's Day with yours and Jake's autographs in purple marker (even though I am well aware that it's probably an e-bay forgery).... But, it's June and time for a new Default Icon. Maybe 'Janine' in celebration of the report that a Real Ghostbusters DvD box set is finally on the way?

Monday I start Physical Therapy for my Shoulder/Arm -- I really hope it will help, because I'm tired of having a bum arm that HURTS when I stretch to empty the clothes dryer, use the drive-thrus at the bank and fast foods, and hook Bel up to her tie-out, etc.

Speaking of Bel, we put up a child-gate on the front porch and she loves it when the gate is up and the door is open and she can go outside and bark at the passers-by. I need to finish planting my railing boxes -- marigolds, impatiens, and this colorful spiky flower that reminds me of lupines but they aren't. Hopefully the lavender will have a growth spurt soon and I can add them to the boxes as well.

Haven't really been in the mood for writing; plus I'm stuck on how to get from the end of chapter two to the start of chapter four of "Paths" -- which reminds me to go check out Frenziedpanda7's new story at the Vole Pit and leave a comment! Us 'Mothers Who Love Anime' (pat.pending) need to stick together!

NaNoWriMo?

A lot of people I know are participaring in NaNoWriMo -- I'm not certain what this says about my social life, that most of my friends are or are aspiring to be writers!

Alas, I don't have the luxury of going incommunicado for the next thirty days, so I'm not playing this year. But I do intend to finishing several of the stories I've been teasing my friends with for the past year, including my Lion story for Jess.

Patience, dearheart.

And Rez? no promises, but what's the status of The Epic? dead in subspace? Sucked down a black hole? Did we kill off anyone while I was dormant?

Well, after a month's hiatus from LJ, and a few odd mishaps, there is a possibility that this evening after running errands we will be coming home with a new fur baby..... considering the last time we went out 'just to look' Daughter and I agreed instantly that we had to bring that sweet bedraggled boy chow home from the Shelter SOON, and the time before that Husband and I drove home across the better part of two states with an eight-week old puppy on my lap. On the other hand, this one is located just on the other side of the river. will keep the fingers crossed.

Lemon Chapter of 'Shadow' going slow..... 'Still Waters' is not quite ready, 'Chiyogami' is stalled. And how are things with you all?

Edited 5/15/06 to Add:
Okay, as of tonight the new puppy is still unnamed, but it's narrowed down to 'Belldandy' and 'Yufie'.... I gave Husband and Daughter an ultimatum: name the little angel tomorrow, or I'm calling her 'Ennis'! -- this earned me a blank look from husband, and a threat of shredded manga from Daughter. We shall see.....
