Furby Wranglings

In my own defense, I HAVE written several paragraphs on Chapter Three of "Paths of Righteousness", but I'm not thrilled with the quality. Also a good page and a half on a prompt that ties in with my TORCHWOOD-YGO AU.... but seriously pathetic....

Last weekend being a bust on the writing front because Husband and I went to visit his Aunt in the Chicago suburbs (family stuff) and I experienced the joy of a LYS (Local Yarn Shop) called "The Fold", which was nearly orgasmic....so many beautiful colors! So soft! So hand-spun (and thus, pricey but worth it)! Husband says I whimpered... I wouldn't be surprised if I drooled a bit...

The local Writing Group is supposedly holding a Write-In this Saturday at member's house. If I attend, I will have to load LeLouche with all my fragments and folders that I MIGHT be inspired to work on. I DID figure out how to input on the daily word counter on the NaNo site, finally.

Like I said, PATHETIC. I'd rather be knitting with my lovely multi-colored skein of hand-spun mohair/wool yarn from THE FOLD.

Recently I've been attending a local Writer's Group with our friend Bruce -- it's a break in the routine, if nothing else -- and they are all NaNoWriMo and doing a Write-In on Nov. 9th... and... I shared part of the Ghostbusters/The Shadow story I'd started during NaNo and people were enthusiastic, so maybe I'll sign up for this year tonight after the Trick or Treaters are through and try to finish it....

Maybe I'll alternate between "A Piece of the Night", and "Still Waters" ---

I figure it was a combination of BOTH: not being serious enough about NaNoWriMo, and being TOO serious about it....

BUT! I Did get over 10,000 words writ of a story that had been banging around my brain for the better part of the past ten years or so that previously got no further than than some spotty research along the 'What If?" lines.

Details later.... I have to work tomorrow, and the waterbed is calling my name.

*sigh* turns out the next door apartment neighbor has been practicing for an Elvis Tribute competition....

And! I managed to get the 1980's storyline going.....

Go me. Only 12,883 words behind. Maybe tomorrow I can expand on the possessed Black Velvet Elvis painting incident a bit.

Yesterday and today not good. Feels like there's a huge lump sitting in my stomach and it won't go away. All I want to do is sleep. It's too soon to be depressed!!!!

Yargh. Blargh. Feh!

I seriously slept in this morning, even with the time change. Ugh!

I need to watch "Ghostbusters" and "The Shadow" again to refresh my memory on a few details. This will NOT be wasted time: it's research.

If she pulled those triggers, two things would happen as surely as night turns to day and vice versa: the recoil from the high powered custom Colts would shatter those delicate wrists, and he would die without ever learning the truth behind this child's, -- barely a woman!-- animosity toward what had at one time been a dearly loved and admired older cousin.

The plan for tonight: At 12:01 am I will open my word processing program and officially start writing.

Working Title will be "A Piece of the Night", taken from a line of the song "Original Sin", the theme song from the movie "The Shadow".

Goal is to write steady for approximately half an hour, then go to bed. (stupid antihistamines...)

ETA at 1:19 a.m. -- okay, more like an hour and 15 minutes, but I made a good start -- over 600 words. Can't get onto the NaNoWriMo site to get my official Word Counter at the moment, so I'll try again later. And now to bed!!!!

Well, I think I've pretty much decided on my plot/topic.....

A couple of years ago I got this wicked idea for a Real Ghostbusters/The Shadow story; I absolutely LOVED the movie with Alec Baldwin, and I read a lot of The Shadow pulp novel reprints too. Do I need to mention how much of a Ghostbuters fan-girl I am? *points at user pic*

And so, a rough plot summary might go something like this:

"During the 1920's in the city of New York, a brilliant yet twisted surgeon named Ivo Shandor decided that Society had become too Evil to continue as it was, and sought to bring about the End of the World by Summoning an ancient Mesopotamian demon/god to destroy Mankind. He and his cult of Ghozer worshipers failed, due to the efforts of a mysterious vigilante known as the Shadow. Seventy years later, the grand daughter of Lamont Cranston hires the Ghostbusters to investigate paranormal activity centering around the old Cranston mansion. Is the last of the Cranston heirs being haunted by the ghost of the Shadow? Or is there something even stranger and deadlier in the neighborhood? Who knows what evil lurks in the depths of the past, waiting to re-emerge and seek revenge? Ahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

*grins*
