apparently I'm one of those people who metabolize certain pain killers faster than normal, in that it took FOUR shots of novacaine this afternoon to enable the dentist to yank the troublesome tooth without me biting his hand off. Because about the time when most folks would be pleasantly numb, I was past numb and on my way back to feeling again. I suppose it might have been easier in the short run to put me under entirely, but I react badly to full unconscious submersion and, as I informed Dr. when I arrived at the office around 2:20pm, I had to be functional and able to drive again by 4:00pm at the latest, because I had to pick Daughter up after school....

But the fourth shot was the charm, and I can honestly say I didn't feel a thing as I watched Dr. and Assistant poke and pull and suction, and eventually even CUT that nasty back molar out of my lower right jaw. (still a tad numb, eight hours later!) And while I was helpless, Dr. took the opportunity to give me a mild scolding about letting said tooth get so bad in the first place.

Anywho.... I managed to get to the circle drive in front of the school just in time for Daughter to walk out the door.... I slid over and let her drive the rest of the way home, left a note for Husband re: Supper (basically, TV dinners and you're on your own, me bucko, and wake me up in time for NCIS) and went to bed. Blessed sleep!!!!! Woke up around 6:30pm to glowing neon orange spiders on the ceiling and the sounds of a MUNCLE episode on the telly.... the spiders were a hallucination, and Illya and Napoleon were courtesy of the TMC channel...

Now I will try to get to sleep again, very tired, and soooooo wonderful to feel no pain!!!!

And I didn't have to mug anyone for a Vicoden, either!

Night night!
