Finally did some GRILLING!!!!!
Jul. 5th, 2009 06:55 pmSee, Friday afternoon, Hubby and I made a quick trip to Sears to get the slow leak in one of his tires fixed... so while that was happening, we browsed the Manly Men's section -- you know, the power tools, mini-tractors, grills.... and found a really good price on a nice kettle grill (not a Weber, unfortunately; they were on sale, but *still* out of our budget). The plan was to have our 4th of July cookout Saturday, with friends, and the old grill was....well....
And of Course. Saturday it rained..... Almost all freaking' day!!!! AND it was chilly. So, no cookout. We dug out both ours and inherited from the in-laws George Forman grills, and cooked/ate in shifts (friends came over anyway)....then sat on our front porch and watched the neighbors set off no-longer-illegal-in-Illinois fireworks in the street. It was still chilly, but that's why God invented 'hoodies', right?
Today was beautiful, so we fired up the new grill and had steaks, corn-on-the-cob, in-the-can baked beans (apologies to Jack!), and finished with strawberry shortcake.... and Marshmallows.
Am stuffed.
