I need a new pair of "Around the House" pants -- which is an oxymoron, because by definition AtH pants are anything BUT new! They're old and comfortable and worn and maybe a bit holey, and you wear them around the house (hence the name) when you're just puttering around, maybe straightening up a bit but mostly lounging with a good book, a good DvD, and cup of coffee or tea, and just barely decent enough to wear on a quick trip to the grocery store or a fastfood drive-through.

I had a couple of pairs last year; but now they're either too small, too holey & indecent, or lost somewhere in the bowels of the back bedroom! grrrrrr.....

I WANT to go to the WashingtonDC BBM Slash Bash so badly! I have vacation time coming, but I can't think of a reasonable excuse to give the Husband -- plus, there's still Bell's ligature surgery to get through.

*whimpers*

ETA: I found the cutest 'Lost Sheep' graphic earlier this week whilst compiling the Sunday Worship bulletin! I'm going to try to turn it into a BBM-ish icon.

Yesterday. Took Bel to the vet for the remainder of her annual shots --
mentioned to vet the way Bel's been favoring her left hind leg. Vet felt her up (to the tune of an extra 40+ buckaroos, since that's considered 'an exam') and gave the opinion that at some point over the past 6 months Bel tore a ligament in her knee joint. But the only way to know for certain and to properly treat would be X-rays... and most likely treatment would consist of surgery.

Cr*p.

There goes what's left of the money Mom gave me for our Anniversary. I HAD hoped I could use it for a little mid-July cammping trip in Minnesota that PlanetgalJess has been organizing (provided I could manipulate my work schedule to accomodate).

Poor Bel. Not her fault, my sweet and sassy PrettyBel....

ETA:
Y'know, NONE of the books I've read over the years about Chows ever said ANYTHING about Chows being 'jumpers' or 'climbers', and yet, I've had three of them now! And Kahvi was so good with her Obedience training that our Trainer was talking about the possibility of taking her to Trials before she died. Makes me wonder about the competance of those book-writing experts, sometimes.

Back when my Husband and I were active in the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (approx. 15 years ago) I planted an herb garden. Today the sole remnant of my interest in herbology (other than my continued preference for using herbs & spices instead of salt as seasoning when cooking) is a rather magnificent sage plant, which every summer from mid May til early June erupts into a mass of silvery-white blossoms. Needless to say, the local bees LOVE our yard -- somewhere in the neighborhood, I think there must be a hive loaded with sage-flavored honeycomb, yum!

Saturday afternoon after a stressful morning of dealing with funeral directors, well-meaning parishioners, and my shell-shocked father-in-law (yes, Husband's mother passed away very early Saturday am), Husband and I took a breather and settled down in our patio swing, with Belldandy on her leash looped around a support and some bottled water, and vegetated. After a while, we noticed that Bel was gazing very intently at the sage bush... she made a little jump back, then lunged forward and bit at the sage blossom nearest. She did this several times, and we realized that she was chasing the big yellow and black bumblebees that were busily harvesting sage pollen.

We had to laugh; it was very funny (yah, we're easily amused!)to watch Bel snap at the bees, even though it wouldn't have been so funny if she'd caught one (ouch! sting-ees!). I think it was the intensity of her expression (yes, Chow faces have expression--you just have to be able to read them, and we have almost 20 years of practice); she was just bound and determined to catch those flying whatsits!

Silly Belldandy!

(PS. Daughter insists on calling her 'Yufie-Bell' -- we can live with that!)
