Okay, behind the lj cut is the great 'family secrets' moment:
“Uncle---” Ryou's protest sounded both shocked and amused. Jack seemed to hesitate, then appeared to make a decision.; the older man stopped walking in the middle of the path and squared his shoulders.
“No, Ryou. I'm not.”
The pale youth had continued on another pace or so before faltering, then paused and turned back to face the other. “Nani?” Ianto instinctively held his breath, at the same time blocking the younger Kaiba's equally instinctive move towards his friend. He could sense the other approaching from behind, and reached out an arm to prevent the intrusion into what he immediately sensed would be a highly charged emotional conversation.
“I'm not--”
“Yamette!” No translation required; both of Ryou's hands were raised in the universal 'stop/stay back' gesture. “Don't. Please.” The younger man's breathing was fast and harsh as he struggled to put his thoughts into the no longer automatically familiar English. “I know... I know that Jamieson Harper does not exist now. Only for twenty five years, during the 70's , 80's and 90's; not before and not since. Seto-kun found the records... or rather, he didn't find them.” He gave the tall brunet an affectionate glance and a wry smile. “Yuugi-kun's not the only one who's good at putting together puzzles.”
“Hn” Again that oddly expressive half snort, half grunt, accompanied by the faint glimmer of something that might have been a smile. Ryou turned his attention back towards Harkness and his own smile faded a bit.
“I also know that great-grandmother Pwyll...wasn't. It was really Great-aunt Estelle who was Grand-Dad's mother....a necessary deception during a very unforgiving era. What you said earlier ... about Estelle's eyes.... that was kind of the last piece...”
“Ryou--”.
“Please! Let me finish, be-before I -- “ the youth paused to take a long shaky breath, then looked at his companions, holding one hand out to each of them. “When Dad died last year, I had to file a restraining order against his parents to protect myself and these two; because even though they would not accept me for who and what I am, they tried to exploit my relationship with Kaiba-kun. And Grandmother Pwyll won't even acknowledge my inconvenient and embarrassing existence....
“Grand-dad called you his brother, Mum called you Jamie, and I was allowed to call you 'uncle'.... right now my family can be counted on one hand: Aunt Chihiro and Himura-san” (Ryou folded down one finger of his right hand), “Seto and Mokuba” (two fingers), “Yuugi-tachi and Mouto-jiichan” (third finger; Seto snorted something in Japanese and Mokuba smacked his arm with a hissed 'Nii-san'), “and a three thousand year old Egyptian tomb robber's spirit......
“Onegai, Harkness-san.... I beg you.... please.....” there were tears in the young man's eyes. “Please... don't tell me to stop calling you 'uncle'.....”
“Dui,” breathed Ianto, echoed by an equally shocked exclamation from the former time-agent Captain, who finally broke his shock-induced paralysis to lunge forward to envelope his ersatz nephew in an emotional embrace.
“I won't”, Jack breathed against pale hair, arms wrapped tightly around the younger man. “Ryou bach, selchie mi, I won't. I'm not disowning you, cariad.... I didn't mean that at all!” He pulled back slightly to study the tear-streaked but smiling face. “Although 'great grandfather' would be more accurate, my own, it does make one feel rather ancient and decrepit.....”
“'Decrepit' being one thing you definitely cannot be accused of, sir,” Ianto admonished dryly accompanied by a cheered “Suigoi!”from a beaming Mokuba and evoking a barked laugh from the elder Kaiba brother.
“Great-grandfather? Che , here we go again.”

I don't know if I'll ever get around to stringing all the parts together and posting as an actual story, but I hope you've enjoyed!
