This looked interesting:
1) What author do you own the most books by?
Either Roger Zelazny or Ellis Peters
2) What book do you own the most copies of?
err... There's a good dozen that I own two copies of: LMB's 'Vorkosigan' books (paperback/hardback) Zelazny's original 'Amber' series (likewise)... a couple of Ray Bradbury collections that duplicate some the stories....
3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
Nope.
4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Miles Naismith Vorkosigan
5) What book have you read the most times in your life?
The Narnia books
6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
See answer to #5 -- Walter Farley's Black Stallion/Island Stallion books and Mary O'Hara's 'Flicka' trilogy were neck-and-neck (pun intended!) for 2nd place.
7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
I don't know about 'worst'; 'most disappointing'? Three-way tie between "The Art of Detection" by Laurie King, "A Fool and His Honey" by Charlaine Harris, and "The Pillowbook of Lady Something-or-Other" -
8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
Honestly couldn't say -- nothing really stood out
9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be? I'd say "Good Omens", but I think most of my f-list has probably read it; likewise "Brokeback Mountain".... maybe "Bridge of Birds" by Barry Hughart, if they can find it.
10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for literature?
Haven't been paying attention
11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Disney is already working on "Dawn Treader" -- hope they don't eff it up! "Shards of Honor" by Lois MacMasters Bujold
12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
Any book by Laurie K. Hamilton
13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
That would probably be the Brokeback Mountain zombie dude ranch dream I had a couple years back...
14) What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
Some shopaholic vampire chickLit book involving designer shoes
15) What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
Can't remember the title OR the author, except it was one of those 'Masters' of Classic Science fiction/fantasy - ALL the characters spoke a different dialect.... I gave up after the second chapter!
16) What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
The 'Henry the Sixth' trilogy
17) Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
I don't understand the question.
18) Roth or Updike?
Neither
19) David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
Huh?
20) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Willy Shakes, FTW
21) Austen or Eliot?
Never read either of them -- well, some of Eliot's poetry, obviously
22) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Probably that I've never read Austen or Eliot
23) What is your favorite novel?
Honestly couldn't say
24) Play?
Hamlet
25) Poem?
Rather fond of "Very Like a Whale" by Ogden Nash
26) Essay?
There were a couple by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R.Tolkein on writing fantasy that I thought highly of when I was in college; nothing recently, though.
27) Short story?
Fanfiction doesn't count? Nuts!!! Somthing Earthsea-ish by Ursula K. LeGuin
28) Work of non-fiction?
I don't read a lot of non-fiction; "Red Land, Black Land" by Barbara Mertz, or "Scriptwriting" by J. Michael Straczinski
29) Who is your favorite writer?
Lois MacMasters Bujold
30) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
Three-way tie:Laurell K. Hamilton, Stephanie Meyer, and Annie Proulx -- seriously, have you read any of her other stories/books? Just shoot me now and put me out of her characters' misery!
31) What is your desert island book?
The Complete Sherlock Holmes, or The Riverside Shakespeare
32) And ... what are you reading right now?
I'm working on the 'Lord John and...' series by Diane Gabraldon --it's a side series to her Outlander books; also a couple of mystery series that don't require a lot of intensive pondering.
This was more difficult than I thought it would be.... I don't really have time for reading other than manga or light mysteries.
