Up until a year or so ago, a meat processing company famous for their bologna and 'weiners' also produced a tasty meat sandwich spread, which was popular in our household for 'day off' lunches.... Alas, this gourmet delight is no longer to be found, as apparently it has been discontinued in favor of something more Teutonic in flavor. Meh.
So, I decided to try and re-create said sandwich spread... it's not quite right, but close:
NOM NOM NOM
1 pound finely ground lean ham
dash of garlic salt
dash of pepper
dash of paprika
1/4 cup of onion flakes
1/3 cup of sweet pickle relish (half a small jar)
at least 1 cup of mayonaise and/or prepared tartar sauce
MIX well in LARGE ceramic bowl (I kept adding mayonaise until I felt the texture was right)and let ingrediants 'settle' in refrigerator for at least an hour before using. Keep refrigerated.
I think next time I'll try adding some dry mustard.
