Not sure where this is headed, but thought I'd share:
I smell blood.
Why am I not surprised? actually... I am, a bit. Really. It shouldn't make a difference in this mental conversation betwixt me and my 'guest', but I have to pause as the all-too familiar prickle and pressure of congested sinues abruptly passing the safety zone and exploding outwards through my nose with a messy spray of mucus. I absently wipe my jacket sleeve across the bottom half of my face. Considering this ruddy cold has turned me - and therefore you as well, Koe, into 'mouth-breathers', I'm shocked.
He ignores my sarcasm, as usual. I can almost see him out of the corner of my eye, like a distorted reflection of myself; his head tilted back with transparant, insubstantial nostrils flared against the snow-filled wind.
Blood...pain...despair...
And the chill that shivers down my spine has nothing to do with the weather....
