Time for a Tall Cold One

not_hathorI'm sure I've mentioned before that at my job the two busiest times of the year are Advent/Christmas and Lent/Holy Week/Easter -- well, THIS year I have never been so glad that I get Easter Monday off (it's actually written in my job description!)...... Gaaaaahhhhhhh! I am SO looking forward to sleeping in on Monday and having a nice leisurely breakfast and cup of coffee -- maybe I'll even go out for breakfast! Take Daughter with me if she's awake and coherent.
Well,oddyssia talked me into it -- I'm going to DucKon 21 with her in June instead of Anime-ZING 3. Not that there was a whole lot of talking involved. As much as I feel duty-bound to support and encourage a local anime convention, the fact that they are featuring the SAME GUEST LINE-UP for the THIRD year in a row is a turn-off. So.... even though the only Name Guest for Duckon that I recognize is Keith DeCandido (and to be honest, I only really recognize HIS name because he's a member of "Boogie Knights" and my friend and former MediaWest*Con Roommate SMAP has occasionally mentioned him in passing) I am going to drive into the Chicago Suburbs for the weekend and spend time with Elder Sibling at a writers/sci-Fi convention that she and her late husband enjoyed on a fairly regular basis. Huh. Come to think of it, the very first REAL sci-Fi convention I attended was in the company of oddyssia and pre-Husband Mike.
Anyway, I need to get my membership, and Big Sis and I will hash out travel & room details a bit closer to the date.
Knitting Projects -- I'm taking a break from my knitting for the Homeless Teen Shelter, and looking for a more seasonal project. I also hope to complete a few unfinished projects that have been sitting around my comfy chair, and maybe.... MAYBE I'll get around to trying the DPNs again.....
Dang. The antihistamine I took earlier due to spring pollen is making me sleepy (like always!).
