This and That
Jan. 8th, 2010 10:00 ammmmmm, quickie update on Stuff:
Half a dozen handknitted winter hats have gone to the GLBT Youth Drop-in; there's still one on the needles, and once that's done there's a handwarmer/half glove pattern I want to try.
All this snow! makes me wish I was a kid again, 'cause this is the kind of snow made for sledding and hot chocolate afterwards.... Now, I have a bum hip and creaky joints, and oh yeah, a job and bills that need to be paid. On the downside, Bel broke her tie-out again -- airplane cable is strong but if it gets kinked one too many times it snaps in sub-zero temps just as easily as the regular type. Fortunately Bel was so happy to see me, she didn't realize that she'd abruptly become a 'free-range Chow'...LOL! I'm glad the squirrels were all hibernating; also that we had a replacement cable on hand.
Spent New Year's Eve with the Step-daughter and -grand daughter, and new Step in-laws. I was a tad twitchy and bored, especially after the kids hauled out the Nintendo and Husband, Daughter and SSon-in-law started playing the Golf Game -- I blamed it on the retro Pepsi, made with REAL SUGAR instead of the usual HFCS. I suppose I could have played too, but I've never been good at video games. Still, it was nice that Husband got to spent some quality time with his Older Daughter and Grand-daughter.
Oh yeah! SHERLOCK HOLMES! Wow! a steampunk Victorian romp! Enjoyed it immensely, despite a few glaring departures from Holmesian Canon. And YAYS! for the scientific explanations for seemingly Occult occurences.
I need --- Chocolate. But will settle for Coffee.
