Belated New Years' observations

Okay, nearly two weeks past the date, but here we go:
1. Continue to strive for Good Health -- had my annual physical on Jan. 8th; my doctor is back from maternity leave. She looked tired, which is a standard operating situation of life with a 5-month old baby (in her case, baby boy). My weight is still going down (slowly, which is good) as is my A1C (still higher than current medical wisdom's decree, but its getting there). Blood pressure a little high, so one of my meds has been adjusted. Overall, I seem to be managing my diabetes fairly well. I will try to get more walking in, as well as renewing my previous mantra -- "More Salads, Fewer Fries" -- which has slipped a bit in the past couple months.
2. Break out of my activities Comfort Zone -- knitting and reading are what I like to do. The knitting helps me keep from snacking in the evenings and when my fingers ache from the knitting, I read. But it would be good if I could introduce something different to my routine. A few months ago I bought a beginners' water color paint kit with the thought that I might try my hand at art again. So far, nothing -- but maybe come spring I can sign up for a class at our local community college.....
3. If the budget allows, maybe an out-of-town science fiction or anime convention?
4. Be more active on-line. Comment on the fan fiction I read, comment on posts by my Journal friends, reach out to people I haven't talked to for a while.
That's all I can think of right now.
