When Bel went in for her Annual shots, Dr. Jennifer was concerned about her blood work -- Bel was anemic and there was something else she wanted to check again in 6 months. so we've been taking iron supplements. Before we saw the vet I was worried that Bel wasn't eating properly so had started supplementing the free-range kibble with the occasional, and increasingly frequent extra bit of Moist and Meaty and wet food. When Dr. Jennifer mentioned that Bel had a bit of a paunch, I figured I'd better cut back a bit on the treats....

Over the past two weeks, Bel has become pickier and pickier about what she will accept, turning away from what used to be favorites, and I've resorted to cooking and hand-feeding left over chicken, beef and pork, scrambled eggs, and even then she sometimes rejects it. And she's had more trouble with the stairs, despite the pricey Adequan arthritis shots since mid-September and a couple of chiropractic treatments... and she's getting thinner, and the 'paunch' is more noticeable. and I am so scared that Bel has liver cancer just like Orion and Chani, and one of these morning's I'm going to wake up, and Bel ...won't......

And there really isn't anything the vet can do other than do tests, because there isn't treatment or cure for liver cancer when it comes to dogs. And even if they could operate, Bel probably wouldn't survive the anesthetic.

Crying, because there's nothing I can really do, excerpt keep trying to feed her and love her, and get up in the night when she barks, because it might be the last time....
