FIC: The Shadow at Your Door, Part 5 of ?

This is going to be a bit of a short one, because I didn't get around to fleshing out the lemon (yes, pun intended) over the weekend like I'd planned; instead I gorged on the Sony Real Ghostbusters DVDs (all three of them) and snarled at my husband for monoploizing the computer -- he was downloading a system-fixer-thingee and because we still have dial-up, it took almost all bloody day Saturday AND Sunday......

The Shadow at Your Door
A Yu-gi-oh!/Stargate SG-1 fanfiction story
By not_hathor aka MotherCHOWGoddess
Rating/Warning: 'OT' for swearing, suggestive language, and male/male relationships (Shonen-Ai, yaoi, SKxRB). Character deaths mentioned, but not shown. Spoilers for the end of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series and for StarGate SG-1 season 7.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! Or any of the characters thereof. They belong to Kazuki Takahashi/ Shueisha Inc., FUNImation Productions, 4Kids, etc. Likewise, I do not own Stargate: SG1 or any of those characters. They belong to MGM, Double Top Secret Productions, Gekko, the SciFi Channel and a whole bunch of suits. This piece of fiction was written solely for the enjoyment of myself and fellow Yu-Gi-Oh! and StarGate fans , and no profit is being made by its writing or publication.
The song 'Shadows' was written, performed & produced by Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot; the lyrics of the second verse have been altered slightly to better fit the characters and the plot.
2nd Warning: This is a 'song-fic', a 'band fic' (sort of) and a Cross-Over (sort-of) set in an AU in which the anime/manga series Yu-Gi-Oh! and the live action TV series 'StarGate:SG-1' share the same reality. If any of these are immediate turn-offs for you, please feel free to stop reading NOW. The original version of this story that was posted on FanFiction.net did NOT include a Lemon scene between Seto and Ryou. It will be clearly marked (hidden in a Cut) so that sensitive readers can avoid it if they wish. Although it uses some of the ideas from my 'Weight of a Feather' stories, it's not necessary to have read them to appreciate this one. Thank you.
Author's Note: Six improbable things you will need to know to better understand this story: 1) It is definitely Shonen-Ai & yaoi,). 2) It is definitely AU, set after end of the Yugioh manga/anime series, and between the episode "Heroes" and the season finale of SG-1's season Seven. 3) It is commonly believed in the context of this fanfic that the Spirit of the Sennen Ring, aka Yami Bakura, aka the Tomb Robber, no longer exists although Ryou retains certain characteristics & attitudes (especially when he loses his temper); ditto for Marik/Malik. 4) Several of the supporting characters were 'borrowed' from other anime/fandoms -- see later A/N for ID's. 5) For the main story, the following ages apply: Seto is 25 - Ryou is 24 - Mokuba is 19 and in college. 6) It's my presumption that frequent use of or exposure to the Sennen Items results in an increased sensitivity to the presence of magic and limited access to any lingering residue of mystical energies.

And if you do not believe me,
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door….
As quickly as humanly possible, even as the lights finally dimmed and the last echo of music faded away, Ryou bolted from the stage. Avoiding friends and fans alike he cloaked himself in shadow and fled towards open ground -- in this case, the amphitheatre's 'crows nest', a tower like structure normally used by security for surveillance of the building and surrounding area. Above the hustle and bustle of the departing crowd and away from the sympathy of well-meaning companions, the young anthropologist turned pop icon let himself sink into darkness and depression.
He didn't come. Was I too subtle? Should I have been more direct? Did I wait too long? Maybe not long enough?
Let it go,
Let it happen like it happened once before...
Oh, Gods… Seth, I need to know…Is there anything left in your heart for me?
Wrapping his arms around himself against the night chill, Ryou leaned against the catwalk railing and contemplated the darkness. Below in the backstage area he knew the rest of the band were celebrating the successful end of the tour and looking forward to the trip back to Cheyenne Mountain. Looking forward to going home.
Home. I have no home anymore; because my home was a tall chestnut-haired, lapis lazuli-eyed reincarnated Priest/Sorcerer who could make my soul sing with a smile, and break my heart with a scowl. I lost my home years ago… and not all the wondrous mysteries of the universe can fill that hole in my life.
It's a wicked wind and it chills me to the bone;
That was not the wind! The former thief-incarnate stiffened as prickles chased up his spine, lifting the fine hairs along the back of his neck. That was Shadow magic… old habit sent one hand reaching for the pendant that no longer rested against his chest while the other casually settled on the belt around his waist and the hidden blade in its buckle.
"I'm not in the mood, Ishtar," he growled, on the off chance it was his colleague trying to sneak up on him. And if, as seemed likely, it wasn't the linguist/drummer, then his comment might lull the unknown other into a false sense of security….
"The first time you went to Colorado I didn't worry, " replied a familiar, dearly-loved husky voice. "I knew I could get you back. The second time…." In the hesitation, there was a wealth of unspoken emotion; Ryou shuddered at his own memories of that occasion even as he turned to face the speaker. "The second time I learned that there was nowhere on earth you could go, that I couldn't find you… but only if you stayed on Earth."
"Seth…"
The tall shadow-shrouded figure stepped closer, an odd pleading tone in his voice. "Ryou… when you go through the StarGate, tell me …. How can I find you again? How do I bring you home from the far side of the galaxy? What do I do?"
Ryou blinked away the water that suddenly blurred his sight. "You-- you do what you always do," he replied shakily, making his own move towards closing the gap between himself and the other man. "Throw your weight around, make threatening phone calls…" A choke of laughter from the CEO interrupted him. "…rally your reinforcements, storm the mountain….and declare war on the Goa'uld. They'll never know what hit 'em," he added with his own breath of laughter as he and Seto both took that last step together and wrapped their arms around each other.
Oh Gods…
I missed you. I'm sorry…
Aishiteru.
Aishiteru-mou.
And if you do not believe me,
Come and gaze upon the shadow at your door….

"Niisama!"
"Well, it's about time."
"F*ck off, Ishtar!"
"Now, now, Kaiba-kun, is that any way to talk in front of your baby brother and his little friend?"
"Two words, Marik -" a gleam of tiger-eye - "Shadow Realm."
"You wouldn't dare --"
"Wanna bet?" A low, evil chuckle. "Didn't think so."
Mokuba folded his arms across his chest and glared. "You lied to me, Seto."
The elder Kaiba smirked, not at all intimidated. "And you withheld vital information from me, little brother."
The crows' nest had suddenly become a tad crowded, as a too-eager and not-at-all innocent Marc Rishid (aka Marik) had decided to help Mokuba and his date locate the errant Sennen lead singer, because he just knew Hané (aka Ryou) would want to say hello to another old friend. Needless to say, the two younger members of the trio had not expected to be confronted with the sight of Mokuba's uptight older brother (who was supposedly in Hawaii) intimately entangled in the embrace of one of the hottest fangirl heart-throbs of the century.
Mokuba's date, an attractive ginger-haired 17-year old named Andi (aka RyansGrrl in certain chat rooms) whom had taken things in stride with wide-eyed but wordless aplomb, looked back and forth between the tall Kaiba Corp. CEO and the silvery-haired singer tucked snugly (or was that 'smugly'?) in under said CEO's arm, then bashed herself lightly in the forehead.
"Life sucks," she muttered, then gave her escort a weak grin. "I suppose you're going to tell me I didn't see this, right?"
"Ano….".
"Thought so. Damn. LuvsHané would just so have a cow."
Kaiba major chuckled. "He would, wouldn't he?"
Andi gaped. "He?"
Hané raised a questioning eyebrow. "Seth?"
"Trust me." The taller man smirked, a gleam of mischief in blue eyes. "Go on line tomorrow night around 7-ish. Whatever you tell them, RG, I'll back you up."
"You -- " Comprehension dawned in the girl's expression, and her hazel-colored eyes acquired their own dancing mischief. "Oi, Mokuba, your brother is wicked!"
"Tell me about it."
"Smart and discreet," Kaiba murmured approvingly. "Mokuba, I love you dearly, but if you don't at least try to hang onto this one, I'm disowning you."
"Not to worry, Bro' -- unlike you, I learn from other people's mistakes." And with that little jab, the younger Kaiba corralled his giggling girlfriend and herded her back towards the stairs leading to the ground floor.
Marik sniggered and followed, proclaiming grandly, "My work here is done." Then glancing over his shoulder as he started down the stairs himself, he added: "Get a room, you two."
"Drop dead, Tomb Keeper."
"No, no, actually that was a good idea, aibou. Your place or mine?"
"Well, Mokuba's got first dibs on the penthouse tonight…"
"Mine." And with that Ryou reached up, buried his hands in chestnut silk and pulled Seto's head down.
"Yours," the other agreed, weaving his own fingers through silver-white strands and meeting his partner's lips with his own. "As you are mine."

Author's Notes: Contrary to my daughter's beliefs, RyansGrrl aka Andi is NOT based on one of her friends.... she's based on one of MY friends from the Highlander Fic-List I used to belong to. The actor who played Richie on HL:TS really does look a bit like a young Michael Flately ; that was one of our 'Clan Denial' schticks -- "Richie's not dead! He's on tour with 'RiverDance'!" *snerk*
