Yesterday I dragged Daughter out of her cave/room to go shopping; as I was in need of several items, not the least was Christmas prezzies for Husband. Went to Farm & Fleet and priced artificial evergreen garlands, and ended up buying new sleep pants (my old ones being so worn in spots that they were on the verge of transparent!), a pair of warm anklets, and a lovely royal blue corduroy over shirt with white embroidery all over (this seems to be a recent trend for me -- pre-embroidered fabrics) -- for which I felt a tad guilty, as I really hadn't intended to spend so much money on myself!!! (especially after LAST weekend in Lombard -- waves at neadods). I located at least one of the items on Husband's Christmas list at Lowe's, and one at Best Buy (which I later saw at FYE in the mall on sale $10 cheaper -- oh well) but no luck on the Craftsman Utility Knife which we'd seen at Sears two weeks ago.

FYE -- dangerous place.... I picked up a Best of Queen CD triple pack, the 2nd 'Music from NCIS' CD, a box of almond pocky and... sigh... a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh cards..... It's for Research !!!! I NEED the cards so I can (eventually) fake a 'sealed deck' duel between Seto Kaiba and Ryou Bakura... yah, pathetic.....

Daughter 'tsked' at me and when I threatened to play 'Death Note Puppet Pals' again, she countered by reminding me that 'she knows where I sleep'. Still, a productive outing, as I garnered an idea on what to get Daughter for Christmas (other than cash and gift cards); and so we returned home.

Took a nap with Husband (he'd had to work yesterday morning, but was home by lunchtime), made gyros for supper and watched the first DvD of 'Descendant's of Darkness' -- challenged Husband to 'Name that Voice Actor'.... he spotted Dan Green the first time Tsuzuki summoned Suzaku (Exodia, Obliterate! anyone?), but was "WTF??' when I told him that Watari was EricStuart-sama --- Kukukukukuku! Although to be honest, if I hadn't known better I would have thought Ted Lewis myself.

Ho hum.... time for the Sunday afternoon nap..... after which, more D0D, I think....

ETA: Oh, finished the swirly striped hat -- looks almost as good as the picture that came with the instructions. Almost finished with the one I started last weekend in Lombard.... can one get carpal tunnel syndrome from too much knitting in too short a time period? Saw a cool 'Alice' T-shirt at HOT TOPIC with the Cheshire cat regarding Time... might go back and get it later this week.

I'm not much for dubs but Dan Green does do well as Tsuzuki, although you can definitely hear a bit of Yami-no-Yuugi once in a while. Tsuzuki being one of my most beloved characters ever, there aren't many voice actors I'd trust with him. ^^
But oooh, Miki Shinichiro in the original! *sigh*

I'll be interested to see the results of your Yu-gi-oh card research! XD

The YGO card research will be --- interesting, for lack of a better word, as I don't play the card game myself, and am not sure that I actually know anyone who does! What I know about sealed deck tournaments comes from having three immediate family members (father, two sisters) who played MAGIC at the drop of a hat, and still hold family tournaments at Christmas-time.

Anyway: starter deck, plus 2-3 booster packs to create a temporary deck. Kaiba's would be heavy on dragons, of course (no BEWDs, since it's not his personal deck),but I have this notion that Bakura's deck in canon is primarily constructed by the Spirit of the Ring -- so what cards would Ryou choose from those available? Would he go for an Occult-style deck because that's what he's most familiar with, thanks to the Spirit, or would he try something different, simply because he can?

Not to mention that the plot of the story requires that the duel end in a draw -- oi! oh yeah, and its a matter of honor, with UST... heh heh heh...

Hey, sis! You might try our nephew--I showed him how to play Magic while the gang was here for Thanksgiving, and he caught on real quick. Had a tendency to say "your move" at the end of his turn, so he might have played as well as collected the cards.
