Just for the record, it's my stance that a person's LJ is his or her own business. If that person wants to post Fan-fiction, dirty jokes, pretty pictures, rants, reviews -- whatever -- that is their prerogative; and if they want to share with the rest of us, or DON'T want to share with the rest of us, that's well within their rights, and it's not the place of the readers of said LJ to complain about the contents if we have been granted that privilege.
That said -- if the owner of a fan-fiction LJ 'friends-locks' that journal, for whatever reason, he/she is within his/her rights, and while I might regret and mourn, I respect that choice. What I simply don't understand is why a person with a 'friends-locked' fiction LJ will then post the announcement of, and link to, a new story or chapter on an LJ Forum where the chances are less than half the members are also on said person's F-List.... what's the point?
I personally think it's rude.
JMHO
(ETA: Also hoping this doesn't get me kicked off any 'friends-lists'!)
