A-Bento-ing I Go, a-Bento-ing I go....
Jan. 21st, 2014 01:03 pmSince Our grand Bento-lunch experiment (and success, I might add) at Anime-zing 2013, Daughter has asked me several times to make the tasty Chicken-and-Cucumber side dish -- most recently this past weekend. At which time it occurred to me that with the way the weather has been this month, it might behoove me to make up several Bento recipes to keep on hand in the fridge in case I end up staying at the church over lunch due to weather, rather than going home at noon as is my habit. Voila! Today I have foiled the nasty near-zero temperatures and the blowing snow, and am eating cozily at my desk, having filled my 'Lunch Box Block' with rice, Beef & Celery (a bit on the bland side), a side of the Chicken & Cucumber (tasty), a smaller side of Curried Cauliflower (also tasty), and several bite-sized cube of my favorite blue-berry cobbler mild white desert cheese (YUM!). I think for tomorrow I shall make up the Broccoli & Ham w/mustard, and possibly the Boiled Salmon on Rice, which I have been wanting to try for quite a while. There are several others involving spinach that need careful planning because I have a package of frozen spinach, and I will have to use it ALL or throw some away, because I don't think you can re-freeze spinach and I hate to waste food....
